Retire Wisely, LLC, is operated by Dr. Charles A. Waehler, a licensed psychologist in Ohio (license #4381) and board certified in Counseling Psychology. My aim is to provide consultation and support for a challenging life transition for many people. Retirement represents both a goal and a process which can be smooth and rewarding, or commonly, a disjointed and stormy time of life. Having studied and experienced the process personally, I use creativity, insight, knowledge, support, and perspective to help you find a productive path toward your personal goals. My consultation services are intentional, organized, and confidential. Together we will promote your strengths and adaptations to help you thrive in this next life phase.
At Retire Wisely we focus on the four pillars of a successful retirement. We will act to strengthen:
Sociability: positive ties with family, friends, allies and other positive social contacts
Health: well-being in the spheres of physical, emotional, financial, and social activities
Leisure: improvement in relaxation and engagement in activities that provide enjoyment and renewal
Meaning: discovery and pursuit of purposeful, skills-promoting, generative activities
Although the conventional view of retirement depicts a seamless shift into unfettered joy, liberation and bliss, many people harbor grave misgivings about this life stage. Engaging with Retire Wisely will help you answer such nagging questions as:
--Why do I feel so agitated when I consider my retirement?
--Will I be able to fill my days?
--Who will I be when I am no longer working?
--How will I replace what I am losing when I give up work?
--Why does it feel like I am giving up so much in retirement?
--Will I be destined to spend all my days taking care of grandchildren?
--How will I prioritize all the things I want to do in retirement?
--After a life of saving, how do I now shift to spending my money wisely?
--How will I manage my time constructively?
--How will I find someone to join me in all aspects of my retirement?
--What if my partner puts new, unwelcome demands on my time?
--Why is change so difficult?
--Why do I fear that retirement will mean loneliness, stagnation, and decline?
--What can I do to delay declining health as I age?
